Press Ganey Awards: Recognizing Health Care's Leading Organizations

It is Press Ganey’s honor to highlight the outstanding work of our clients who strive to improve the patient experience and raise the bar on performance each year. Press Ganey recognizes a select group of its clients with awards that commend efforts to improve the quality and safety of patient care, provide a positive and collaborative environment for employees and physicians, and ultimately deliver exceptional patient experiences. Award winners are recognized in November at the 2019 Press Ganey National Client & Executive Leadership Conferences.

PRESS GANEY INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Innovator of the Year Award annually recognizes an outstanding leader who has challenged the status quo to improve the overall safety, quality, and experience of care and who has advanced the health care industry through disruptive change.

Press Ganey's Transformation Award is an annual award presented to honor one organization leading the industry in pursuing enterprise-wide transformation through innovative operations that leverage interdependencies across functional areas to accelerate the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. The organization repeatedly pushes operational boundaries to drive action, building on the power of corporate culture to innovate and transform, while setting a new standard for what is possible. The winner translates their transformational vision into action and demonstrated results.

Providing transformative care in the pediatric care setting requires highly engaged teams dedicated to the mission of providing patient- and family-centered care. The Pediatric Excellence Award recognizes an initiative that has engaged the workforce to transform the care experience for patients and their families.

PRESS GANEY NURSE OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Press Ganey Nurse of the Year Award recognizes the contributions of an outstanding direct care nurse who has gone above and beyond in his/her role and demonstrated care innovation, transformation and collaboration that supports an exceptional patient experience.

PRESS GANEY KERRY JOHNSON SAFETY CHAMPION AWARD

The Kerry Johnson Safety Champion Award honors an individual who has gone above and beyond in sharing their expertise and experience with others to advance and the mission to Zero Harm.

The 2019 Safety Champion: Patricia J. Atkins, MS, RN, FACHE, CPPS, Vice President of Quality, Patient Safety, and Lean Six Sigma, Sharp Healthcare

THE PINNACLE OF EXCELLENCE AWARD

This award, presented under the name Beacon of Excellence prior to 2015, is given to the three top-performing organizations in each category on the basis of extraordinary achievement. The award recognizes clients who have maintained consistently high levels of excellence over three years in patient experience, employee engagement, physician engagement, or clinical quality performance.

THE SUCCESS STORY AWARD

This award recognizes clients who have demonstrated innovation and leadership to measurably improve patient experience, clinical quality, safety, or caregiver engagement. Recipients are selected from among the stories submitted to the Press Ganey Annual Call for National Client Conference and Success Story submissions.

THE NDNQI® AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING NURSING QUALITY

The NDNQI Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality honors nursing excellence and awards the best-performing hospital in each of seven categories. Analysis considers 17 quality measures to evaluate scores by unit type, develops a standardized score for each unit and combines scores across the units to produce an overall score. The highest-ranking hospital in each category receives the award.

GUARDIAN OF EXCELLENCE AWARD

This award honors clients who have reached the 95th percentile for patient experience, employee or physician engagement, or clinical quality performance — awarded annually based on one year of data.
