Learn and Share in the HPI Press Ganey PSO

Discuss safety events, analyze root causes and resolve event classification in confidential forums.

Officially listed with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the HPI Press Ganey Patient Safety Organization (PSO) is a legally-protected, confidential forum for PSO members to learn from each other, gain insights from aggregate analysis of safety event data and share tested strategies for preventing harm. Our PSO members exclusively use the HPI Press Ganey Safety Event Classification® taxonomies (SEC®), Serious Safety Event Rate® (SSER®) measures and in-depth Cause Analysis methodologies.

To facilitate ongoing learning among peers, HPI safety leaders – with expertise in health care, nuclear power and military and commercial aviation – guide open discussions with members in three PSO learning forums:

Safety Event Classification (SEC) Advisory Panel

Listen to this regular panel of practicing safety leaders formally review and discuss challenging classification cases submitted by you and other PSO members. This includes support for inter-rater reliability and classification alignment. Decisions are published in a members-only Case Library.

Cause Analysis Grand Rounds

Learn from HPI Press Ganey safety experts during this deep dive into specific cause analysis topics and event. You’ll earn one hour of continuing education credits (CE) for each session you attend to enhance your safety credentials.

Safe Tables

Initiate, exchange and discuss safety issues and lessons learned with other PSO members experiencing similar issues at other organizations. Safe Tables, facilitated quarterly, vary in format from less-structured roundtables to more formal presentations. Members are welcome to request topics to discuss setting-specific or unique safety issues with others facing similar issues.

In support of improving patient care, Press Ganey is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the health care team.
