What it is

Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), also known as the CAHPS Hospital survey or Hospital CAHPS, is a formal public reporting initiative that asks your patients to rate their experiences regarding their inpatient stay. These ratings are shared with the public and impact your hospital's reputation and standing in the community it serves. Your HCAHPS results also accounts for 25% of your value-based purchasing scoredirectly impacting your hospital’s Medicare payments.

Press Ganey patient experience surveys combine the required HCAHPS questions with scientifically-developed patient-centered questions to provide the most comprehensive view of the overall patient experience. While the HCAHPS survey measures patient experience (how often a service was provided), additional Press Ganey questions reveal important qualitative details (how well a service was provided), enabling for a more balanced perspective of patient care within your organization.
