BOSTON (April 6, 2022) – Press Ganey today announced the appointment of Steven Berkow, JD, as senior vice president and general manager of its workforce solutions business unit. Berkow comes to Press Ganey with more than 25 years of dedicated expertise in workforce engagement and experience for health systems. The appointment comes after Press Ganey’s recently announced intent to acquire Forsta, a global leader in Voice of the Customer, Voice of the Employee and Market Research technology.

The pandemic has reemphasized healthcare’s most precious asset—our workforce. Today, healthcare organizations face mass retirements, unprecedented burnout rates and new competitors for talent. Steven is uniquely equipped to guide our employee experience solutions as we continue to invest in providing our clients with concrete tools and services for better engaging their workforces amid such steep challenges.

In his new role, Berkow will oversee growth plans, product development, key partnerships and day-to-day operations of Press Ganey’s employee experience solutions that capture the voices of more than 3 million healthcare workers annually.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Press Ganey and focusing all my energies on helping organizations build workplaces that physicians, nurses and other staff find even more engaging, notwithstanding the challenging headwinds healthcare now faces,” said Berkow. “Press Ganey provides an innovative toolset for organizations striving to hear their employees and stem burnout, win back loyalty and reinvigorate culture.”

In fact, more than 65% of health systems featured on America’s Best Employers of 2022 by Forbes are Press Ganey healthcare employee experience clients. Berkow will work extensively to continue to enhance Press Ganey’s existing employee experience product roadmap, like 360 and 180 assessments, real-team pulse surveys and flight risk analytics, and bring next-generation, human-centric solutions to the market.

Berkow joins Press Ganey most recently from UnitedHealth Group where he was vice president of its Center for Healthcare Research and oversaw research initiatives driving healthcare innovation and informing national policy.

Prior to UnitedHealth Group, Steven worked for The Advisory Board (Optum), where he led a $150M product portfolio, including nationally recognized best-practice memberships for HR, nurse and physician executives. Under his leadership, The Advisory Board partnered with 80 healthcare organizations to improve average employee engagement scores by 8.5% in five years and expanded the Nursing Executive Center to serve over two-thirds of all U.S. health systems.

In addition to his leadership in workforce solutions, Berkow spent several years as a practicing attorney serving safety-net hospitals in the Greater NYC Area. Berkow has also served as a keynote speaker at numerous industry conferences, including ASHHRA and MCERA.

Berkow holds his Doctor of Law from Harvard Law School and completed his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College.

He is replacing Lynn Ehrmantraut who is retiring from Press Ganey after six years.
