Medical practices that focus on the patient experience increase practice loyalty and profitability and reduce malpractice risk.
And if that’s not enough incentive, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has begun measuring patient experience for Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and large medical groups submitting the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) through the CMS' Group Practice Reporting Option (GPRO). In addition, the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Boards will require individual physicians to survey using CGCAHPS components as part of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) by 2015. Measurement and improvement of the patient experience is here to stay.
