Clinical – Clinical Performance Management

  • Improving Performance: Getting Physicians On Board

With the proliferation of pay-for-performance models, meeting OPPE requirements is not enough to improve quality of care with tighter resources. To streamline resource utilization and drive real change in practice patterns, effective organizations develop collaborative relationships with their medical staff to review and improve performance.

Attend this webinar to hear strategies for engaging a cross-functional team to lead performance improvement. Learn processes to engage medical staff and enable your team to identify variation, ask questions, and use fact-based dialog to have productive conversations about performance. You will hear about effective tools to recalculate metrics for a more accurate view of individual and group performance, perform root cause analyses, and leverage teaching cases to identify specific opportunities to improve. [Duration: 1 hour]

    Araby Thornewill,
Vice President, Clinical and Operational Products

Standardized hospital measurements of cost, length of stay, profitability, quality and patient experience are now a requirement. Inevitably, these measures will show variations across physicians and clinical conditions within the same hospital. Furthermore, if external benchmarks are available, there will be variations apparent in the hospital’s overall performance.

This session will focus on how to use these variations to best identify potential opportunities, and how to do an integrated root cause analysis to determine and quantify the actual opportunities present. Organizational responsibilities, effective physician involvement, and integrated data requirements all play a part in moving from data to improvement.
