HHCAHPS Implementation Timeline

Below is a timeline of major HHCAHPS milestones to date, and a schedule of upcoming dates for public reporting. Please note that, according to CMS, the future dates are estimates based on current timetables and are subject to change.

HHAs will be able to preview their own HHCAHPS results about two weeks prior to public reporting.

2013

• Public Reporting of HHCAHPS: July 2013
  Results for 4th Quarter 2011 removed and results for 4th Quarter 2012 added.
  Includes January 2012 through December 2012 visits.
• Public Reporting of HHCAHPS: April 2013
  Results for 3rd Quarter 2011 removed and results for 3rd Quarter 2012 added.
  Includes October 2011 through September 2012 visits.
• Public Reporting of HHCAHPS: January 2013
  Results for 2nd Quarter 2011 removed and results for 2nd Quarter 2012 added.
  Includes July 2011 through June 2012 visits.

2012

• Public Reporting of HHCAHPS: October 2012
  Results for 1st Quarter 2011 removed and results for 1st Quarter 2012 added.
  Includes April 2011 through March 2012 visits.
• Public Reporting of HHCAHPS: July 2012
  Results for 4th Quarter 2010 removed and results for 4th Quarter 2011 added.
  Includes January 2011 through December 2011 visits.
• First Public Reporting of HHCAHPS on Home Health Compare web site: April 19, 2012
  Includes October 2010 – September 2011 visits.
  
  A rolling four-quarter average will be reported. Data will be updated quarterly with a new quarter rolled in and the oldest quarter rolled out. Data will not be publicly reported for a home health agency until they have four quarters of data submitted.

2010

• National Implementation Linked to Payment: October 2010 Visits
  HHCAHPS data collection begins for annual payment update for CY 2012.
• Dry Run: July – September 2010 Visits
  Agencies are required to participate in the Dry Run to be eligible for National Implementation.
