Pediatric Inpatient InsightsSM: Understanding the Pediatric Experience
Press Ganey’s Pediatric Inpatient Insights solution measures patient experiences with inpatient hospital stays for patients under the age of 18. This psychometrically-tested pediatric-specific survey can help your organization focus its improvement efforts by better understanding your patients’ and their caregivers’ perceptions of their care experience.
Improved patient- and family- centered care results in better quality of care, an increased number of satisfied and loyal patients and heightened financial performance.
- Separate benchmarking for small and large pediatric hospitals ensures an apples-to-apples comparison.
- Customized patient-specific survey modules that incorporate the Emergency Department experience.
- A dedicated improvement manager, specialized pediatric resources and networking opportunities with pediatric organizations ensure that clients receive the improvement support needed for continued success.

PREPARE FOR PEDIATRIC HCAHPS
Development is currently under way to create a Pediatric Hospital CAHPS survey. This survey is being designed by the Center of Excellence for Pediatric Quality Measurement (CEPQM) with funding from CMS and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The survey will measure parent or guardian reports of their family’s experience with their child’s inpatient care.
Press Ganey is partnering with CEPQM to offer clients the opportunity to participate in a test of the draft pediatric survey. The data collected during the test will help to inform the final survey tool. The field test is scheduled to begin with November 2012 discharges and continue for at least six months. A final survey is anticipated in 2014.
Earlier this year, Shanna Shulman, MD, presented an overview of CEPQM’s work to develop the Pediatric HCAHPS survey. This webinar is available on demand.
Pediatric HCAHPS builds on the core domains of the HCAHPS instrument for adults with many survey items derived from the existing HCAHPS instrument and adapted for pediatric care. In addition, new questions reflect expanded domains and new domains identified as important through the survey development process.
