2015 National Client Conference Highlights

The annual Press Ganey National Client Conference is the premier patient experience conference, convening nearly 3,000 health care professionals from across the continuum of care in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

The 2015 event, LeadingCare, was the culmination of our 30 year anniversary celebration as well as a continuation of our commitment to improve the quality, safety and delivery of patient-centered care in partnership with our clients.

CEO Pat Ryan kicked off three days of learning and networking with “Leading Care: CEO Insights on the Evolution and Future of Patient-Centered Care,” a Press Ganey documentary short that chronicles the evolution of health care over the past three decades. The video is both a retrospective of the remarkable progress made to advance patient-centered care as well as a forward-looking perspective of how care providers will continue to evolve delivery of care to ensure patients’ health and well being remain at the center of care.

Leading Care: CEO Insights on the Evolution and Future of Patient-Centered Care

In a panel discussion moderated by Pat Ryan, CEOs from leading health care organizations continued the dialogue around the evolution of patient-centered care, sharing perspectives on their biggest challenges as well as their visions for the future of health care delivery. The panel included Marna Borgstrom, Yale New Haven Health; Dr. Toby Cosgrove, Cleveland Clinic; Dr. David Feinberg, Geisinger Health System; Dr. Rod Hochman, Providence Health & Services; and Michael Murphy, Sharp HealthCare. 

2015 Keynote Speakers

Keynotes delivered by General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.) and patient safety expert Dr. Peter J. Pronovost reaffirmed that we must invest in leadership, embrace innovation and commit to delivering safe, reliable, patient-centered care to reduce suffering and continue to advance the industry. 


Recognizing Exceptional Performance & Leadership

Throughout conference, the extraordinary achievements of our clients were recognized and celebrated. In addition to announcing the recipients of our organizational performance awards during the awards lunch, several individual were recognized for their personal contributions to advancing the patient experience.

Dr. Rod Hochman, CEO of Providence Health and Services, was announced as the recipient of the 2015 Press Ganey Innovator of the Year Award. Press Ganey CEO Pat Ryan presented the award, describing Dr. Hochman as an accomplished and influential leader, providing hospitals and health systems throughout the country with a roadmap to increasing access to care, and driving innovation through strategic community partnerships.

NOYPress Ganey also presented its 2015 Nurse of the Year Award to Linda Minnich, staff nurse at John Muir Health. The award recognizes the contributions of an outstanding direct-care nurse committed to care innovation, transformation and collaboration that supports an exceptional patient experience. Two finalists, Victoria Bamsey of Inova Loudoun Hospital and Catherine “Catt” Delanoix of UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, were also recognized.

ira_nashIn addition, Press Ganey presented its inaugural Physician of the Year Award to Dr. Ira Nash, senior vice president at North Shore-LIJ Health System and the first executive director of the North Shore-LIJ Medical Group. The award honors a physician leader who demonstrates outstanding achievement in improving the patient experience, promoting team-based care, delivering compassionate, connected care and reducing patient suffering within his or her organization.

Eighteen organizations were recognized as leaders in transparency for their commitment to the consumer movement. In undertaking initiatives to publish their physicians’ patient experience scores and comments publicly, these institutions are delivering information consumers seek, improving engagement within their organizations and their communities, and building accountability among physicians and employees to advance the care experience.

awardsDuring the awards lunch, Press Ganey presented its 2015 class of award-winning health care providers. More than 432 winners from across the continuum of care were recognized for exemplary performance around improving the quality and safety of patient care; providing a positive and collaborative environment for employees and physicians; nursing excellence; and delivering exceptional patient experiences. In addition to celebrating these organizations’ notable achievements, musical guest Sing! entertained attendees—including a flashback to 1985 in honor of the company’s founding.

Session Highlights

More than 80 breakout sessions provided conference attendees an outstanding opportunity to learn from and with peers. Sessions highlighted best practices to address key health care issues, as well as case studies and success stories from top-performing client organizations. Every session was eligible for continuing education credits, a tremendous benefit to our many clients pursuing professional development and certifications.

In addition, preconference events for academic medical centers and major teaching hospitals, medical practices, small community and rural hospitals, pediatrics and nursing facilitated networking and sharing of best practices for groups facing unique challenges.

​Innovation Pavilion


The Innovation Pavilion served as a central gathering place for attendees to connect with Press Ganey subject-matter experts, and learn more about solutions and recent innovations to help clients improve the entire patient experience— including our new, state-of-the-art web-based reporting platform. In addition, attendees were able to download the resources highlighted within the Innovation Pavilion through the conference mobile app.
