Top Children’s Hospital Chooses Leading Patient Experience Firm for Pediatric Solutions
Boston, Massachusetts, February 17, 2015
– Press Ganey announced today it has signed a multi-year agreement with Boston Children’s Hospital
, a leading pediatric hospital, to capture and assess patient and family experience data through the newly created Child Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems
(Child HCAHPS) hospital survey.
The Child HCAHPS initiative was funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The tool was developed and field-tested by Boston Children Hospital's Center of Excellence for Pediatric Quality Measurement in collaboration with the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Consortium. Beyond meeting regulatory requirements, Press Ganey’s Child HCAHPS survey incorporates proprietary measures to better understand parent or guardian perceptions of their child’s care. Additionally, Boston Children’s will be using Press Ganey’s census-based surveying™ approach to capture deeper and more timely data, garnering greater insights and pinpointing opportunities to enhance the patient and family experience.
“As the institution that developed and field tested Child HCAHPS, we look forward to using these measures to more fully understand essential needs and preferences of children and their families,” said Laura J. Wood, DNP, MS, RN Senior Vice President, Patient Care Operations and Chief Nursing Officer at Boston Children’s Hospital. “We also chose Press Ganey because of their leadership in nursing engagement and quality improvement as we continue to enhance the interpretation of normative comparisons and associated nursing-sensitive outcomes through the use of National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI®). We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Press Ganey as we progress in our enterprise-wide journey toward a more reliable experience for children and their families informed by the triple aim to improve health, value, and the experience of care,” said Wood.
